ABOUT NICOLA
Originally from Scotland and trained in New York City, Nicola has called Portland home since 2004. She specializes in hair color and straight razor cutting. Although a classically educated cutter, Nicola is intuitive and loves the softness and movement that comes through carving hair with a straight razor and has trained extensively with Bumble and bumble, Jayne Matthews of Edo and Corrina of Pony Salon. She loves undone hair, hair that looks great when air dried or slept on. Her career began in NYC 20 + years ago with an in-depth apprenticeship in corrective color. She’s remained passionate about all forms of color whether free flowing and low maintenance or high end creative. She loves balayage, vibrant reds and browns and a perfect platinum. She uses ammonia-free, low toxicity, vegan and gluten free color.
Nicola is a sought after session stylist who has worked on numerous international campaigns and at New York Fashion Week. She remains committed to education and inspiration to bring out her client’s beauty on the daily.

A stylist and educator who apprenticed in the glory days of San Francisco, Lauren continues to fine tune her considerable skills with TONI&GUY, Bumble and bumble, R+Co and many others. She's passionate about creating confidence with precision haircuts and soft, natural textures. She loves highlighting natural beauty with the perfect blonde, balayage, rich deep tones, vibrant reds and everything in between. Any big change is most likely a color correction. If you have dark hair and want to be blonde, if you haven't had your hair colored in over 6 months, if you have unwanted tones or previous color that needs fixing then a color corrective appointment is for you.

We are a clean air salon. Changing your hair color requires chemicals. Not all chemicals are bad and not all chemicals are the same. We use the lowest tox colors and styling products available in the United States, all manufactured to the strict health guidelines of Europe and Australia. Wherever possible we use non-aerosol products, without synthetic perfumes or ingredients. Every product line we carry is made in the U.S. by small companies that take active steps to help heal our environment and communities.

By making an appointment you agree to our CANCELLATION POLICY. No shows and cancellations with less than 48 hours notice may be charged the FULL SERVICE AMOUNT regardless of circumstance, at stylists’ discretion. If you think you are sick, please contact your stylist via text at the number above for the quickest response. Small businesses don’t receive sick pay or paid leave and we cover all our own benefits. Paying for the time you booked ensures we can stay in business. Thank you for understanding.
Sweetheart is located on the interior breezeway of Jimmy’s Tire and Annex, 1100 SE Division Street, Portland, Oregon 97202. Please enter by Pine State Biscuits on 11th or Pizza Thief on 12th. There is a pay lot behind the Ford Building on 11th and ample free street parking in Ladd’s Addition (we like SE Elliot Street) or in the neighborhood east of the salon on 13th & 14th between Division & Clinton.
Please pay attention to parking signs. If you are parked on Division between 9th and 11th between 4 and 6pm M-F, you may be towed. Parking rules are not in effect at the weekend. If you get stuck by the train on 12th after crossing the Ross Island Bridge, you can access us by heading up Powell to 21st Ave and crossing to Division there or turning left off 12th down Mill Street onto Grand and coming up that way by Goodwill. We have no knowledge or control over the train schedule unfortunately. Contact the City of Portland to let them know how you feel!
